The business was originally founded in the 1980s by Mr. Geoff Rainsbury, whose passion for rural property laid the foundations for a specialist agency dedicated to smallholdings, farms, country homes, land, and lifestyle properties throughout the region.
In 2002, Mr. Rainsbury passed the reins to Martyn and Kay Buck, who continued to grow the business with the same commitment to personal service and local expertise. Their stewardship lasted until 2018, when the agency was sold to Houses For Sale In Wales, operated by Bill and Diana Chandler. Bill and Diana expanded the profile of The Smallholding Centre and strengthened its reputation across Ceredigion, Carmarthenshire, and Pembrokeshire.
On 9th November 2025, The Smallholding Centre entered its next chapter when the business was purchased by Padarn Property, a local established independent estate agency. Led by local estate agent Rhys Joseph, Padarn Property brings a modern, energetic, and community-focused approach to an already well-loved rural brand.
